Both Voyager I and II are equipped with a high-gain antenna with a 3.66 m parabolic high-gain antenna. This antenna is what allows Voyager to receive commands and send accumulated data back to Earth, which is why the high-gain antenna always points in our direction. The high-gain antenna uses radio waves to communicate with a 34 meter antenna on Earth in the 8 Gigahertz range frequency through 23 watt radios.
